If you’re in the mood for buying a new dresser, then there are some handy tips that you should keep in mind.
1) shop around
It might be your first instinct to go looking at a big name brand department store for your new dressers, but you might end up spending a lot more than you need to. Have a look at second hand stores, antique sales, and garage sales to a pre-loved dresser. While a second hand dresser will have been used before, you can find one of great quality for a fraction of the cost of a new one. If the quality is low, the price will reflect that.
2) make notes before you go shopping
Many department store employees work on commission, so they want you to buy something that will benefit them, not necessarily you. If you come in with a firm idea in mind, you cannot be shaken. Measure the entire space where you’re going to put the dresser, not just the length. Measure how high you want it to go, if there are any windows that you don’t want to be covered, and also measure how wide you want it. If you don’t have a measurement for width, you might be bumping in to your new dresser every night
3) keep an open mind
While having exact notes will make it so you don’t get suckered into buying something that you don’t want, it is always best to keep an open mind when you go shopping. Can you exchange height for length, so it’s not as tall as you want, but you can fit more in. Did you really need five small draws, when four bigger ones can mean you can fold things on top on each other?
Keep these tips in mind the next time you go shopping for a dresser.
